Piel Island: Walk Across the Sands

Where? Snab point, Barrow-in-Furness
When? 25th July 2026 @ 12:30pm
This is a ticketed event - for anybody ages 6+ welcome. No dogs allowed to protect the wildlife

Enjoy crossing the Sands at low tide from Walney Island to Piel Island with time to explore the rich heritage, including Piel Castle, and nature on offer on the island. It promises to be a memorable day out for everybody.

This is always one of the standout moments of our year, and it just keeps getting better thanks to all of you. Every year we’re blown away seeing so many of you turn up—friends, families, all ages—just chilling with a picnic and enjoying some live Sugarfoot country music 🤠

We have Living History, music, crafts people, games, activities, crafts, books and refreshments on site as well as the brilliant shop in the visitor centre providing gifts, wines, meads, gin, jams and much more.
